Why can the problem of obesity not be dealt with quickly and easily?

The problem of obesity cannot be dealt quickly and easily because of a number of reasons. In the United Kingdom the problem of obesity is prevalent for the last 30 years and a huge segment of population is affected. It will certainly take time to incorporate remedies at such a mass level, while assuring individual level remedies may not be able to lower the total rate of obesity. (2)

How could holistic measures be adopted to tackle obesity?

A number of studies suggested that there a holistic approach should be adopted to deal with obesity. This will include the promotion and production of healthy diets and establishment of an environment where individual are motivated to involve in activities that ensure physical exertion and revaluating eating habits of the masses. These actions are required not only at the governmental level but also in the commercial, communal and personal levels. (3)

What evidence is there to suggest that obesity in Britain has become commonplace?

Recent researches and foresight modelling indicates that by 2050, 60% of adult males, 50% of adult females and over 25% of children under 16, in UK, will be affected by obesity. (2)

Both these concern have a number of similarities, as both requires societal change and cross governmental actions and a long term commitment. It is imperative that tackling obesity requires a mass level effort.
