Five years of age is a growing age, in which bones become stronger and tissues and other organs of body develop. Energy intake of various types is recommended for pre-school going Childs, and we know that every child has different metabolism, growth rate, pattern of physical activity and appetite. Generally a certain range of calories is required for two to five year children that are approx 1,000 to 1,600 (Whitney et al. 2009).
A normal child requires 1,000 calories during one day while another child may require 1,600 calories depending on metabolism and other body requirements in order to develop and grow in a healthy and normal fashion. Inactive children require lesser amount of calories than the active ones. So it's better to design a plan according to the health and choices of a child. Daily diet should include carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and other essential minerals that are needed for the growth of tissues and bones.
As we know that blood glucose level is increased in diabetic patients due to disturbed performance of insulin so it is necessary to the diabetics to focus on food that do not contain as much amount of glucose or similar components that can lead to the final conversion into glucose. Also the diabetics are more prone to cardiac disorders and stroke, a healthy diet is essential in order to minimize the risks for complications to occur (American Diabetes Association). Their diet should contain whole grains, vegetables, non-fat dairy products, fruits, beans, poultry, lean meats and fish. We cannot say that this list of meal is perfect r this list will not create complications in future. In order to prevent complications it is necessary to keep balance between meals. Make the different foods in portions and divide in different times. Like for example take small portion of food at 10 am then after two hours take another portion. In this way one can easily consume and metabolize the amount of glucose present in meal portion. Take food in a way that the cholesterol level should also remain in control to avoid from other problems associated with diabetes.
