Introduction

According to the general view, the current shortage of nursing globally is merely extensive and threatening. There is a frightening shortage of the skilled nurses who are desperately needed to look after the individual patient or the whole population. In our society, the hard work by nurses in not properly recognised. Even the educated people don't completely appreciate their work. The purpose of this paper is to shed some light on the issues of shortage in nursing and what are the main causes behind this. How could we deal this shortage and what plans do we need to solve this issue.

What is lacking?

The basic purpose of this article is to explain the reason for nursing shortage and also define the nursing personnel workforce problems. The nursing workforce problem varies depending on urban or rural geographic. This is also affected by the density of population on the health care system and also on the nature of organization. In rural and urban areas the major problem is also the distribution of health care and nursing staff. Due to vast differences in rural and urban settings, there may be an assumption that nursing personnel issues will be significantly different. As there are massive disparities between the urban and the rural settings, so it is also in consideration that nursing staff issues will be extensively diverse (www.truthaboutnursing.org, 2008).

According to the survey, In US the major portion of population is not getting the sufficient medical treatment. The geographic areas are also selected as health profession shortage areas, both in urban and rural regions.
