The country of Untied States of America is in a serious state of experiencing a shortage of the nurses or registered nurses. The shortage of nurses may turn to a severe deficit in the future of the United States Hospitals and dispensaries. It is in the history of the America that is having faced this type of shortage several time such as in the end of 1950s, start of 1970s, and end of 1980s. Most currently in the present and the last decade this shortage occurred once again. In the early disputes, the experts adopted the solution to solve this issue such as high wages hiring from overseas, and providing better benefits to the nursing professionals. It is usually observed that hospital based nurses hate their jobs and love their work. Most of The times, this sentiment seems that such issues the actual barriers in the job satisfaction of the clinical nursing. In this case, increasing the supply of nurse is not the solution. It found that nurses retire from the workforce in late fifties. Well, this issue is still explainable because this profession demands more physical work with health perfection. Nurses enter in this profession after spending some time in its practice or time in hospitals (Berliner & Ginzberg, 2002).
There are four main reasons which caused the shortage of nursing in the United States of America and affected hospitals badly. According the Janiszewski Goodin, H. (2003); these four areas were poor image of nursing in the society. It is found that this profession is not widely accepted by the youngsters because of its heavy responsibilities, low income rate and high level mind attention every time. Changing work climate is the second reason which caused the shortage of nurses in US. Most of the people grow in a free environment where they could perform the activities what they want. On the other hand, the nursing profession does not allow that much freedom as it demands time punctuality, daily attendance, high technical knowledge of the medical profession, and commitment. Third is declining in the environment in the list. In the modern world, the women have more opportunities for their career and education.
