Nursing research is the research that offers proof that is used for supporting the practices of the nurses. Nursing over the years have been developing as an area of practice that is based largely on the evidences. Many nurses are now working as successful researchers and are largely based in universities and other health caring centers. This simply means that the profession of nursing has evolved over the years and has now made the nurses involved in conducting research in various medical institutes and facilities. The education policies regarding the nurses are now more focused on the usage of evidence from the research for the reason to rationalize the interventions of the nurses, (Carmel, 1992).
In the United States, courts have the power and the authority to determine whether a nurse acts in a very reasonable way based upon the fact that their interventions and interactions were based on a solid research background. The field of the nursing research can be categorized into two main areas; qualitative research, that largely bases itself in the logical paradigm of positivism and also focuses on the various results that can be measured easily by the use of statistics.
