Introduction

In this assignment I will discuss the leadership in the nursing profession. Similarly, I would try to explain the style of nurse that I met. Furthermore, I would also define my leadership style, what traits and characteristics do I have and what new traits I can acquire to be an effective leader. I will also discuss that how to communicate well with others and how can I further improve my communication style. In the last part of the experience I would discuss my leadership experience; how I motivated the team members and which strategies did I incorporated to achieve my goals. Leadership in any profession is of pivotal importance. Nursing Leadership fills the gaps in the management of health care nursing staff, the service of health care and patient management. Leadership in nursing is playing a vital role the in the health care. There is increasing proof in the literature of nursing regarding the optimistic effect of environment of healthy work on the satisfaction of staff, their retention, enhanced outcomes of patient, and performance of organization. The application of an environment of healthy work needs well-built nursing leadership at all organizational levels, but particularly at the care point or level of unit where patient care is administered and the majority front line employees work.

Leadership in the Nursing Profession

The capability and skill of conceiving a vision and influencing others to follow it is known as Leadership (Gill, 2012). Nursing Leadership can be defined as the role taken by nursing professionals for providing excellence in health care through a vision of high quality service level for patients and mentoring of nursing staff. Leadership in nursing is playing a vital role in the health care. There is increasing proof in the literature of nursing regarding the optimistic effect of environment of healthy work on the satisfaction of staff, their retention, enhanced outcomes of patient, and performance of organization (Wong & Cummings, 2012). The nursing leadership is more effective as the leaders have the domain knowledge of the process of the work and can effective guide the staff for achieving excellence in work. They can also satisfy the patients regarding their queries and can reduce the reservations regarding care. The implementation of an environment of healthy work needs well-built nursing leadership at all organizational levels, but particularly at the care point or level of unit where patient care is administered and the majority front line employees work. Increasing potential nurse leaders is an extended tenure mission. It can be demanding for leaders of today to forecast what skills, abilities and knowledge will be required to pilot in the future. Without nurse leaders, a environment of healthy work is not possible.

Nurse leaders who authentically live it, support its importance, and engage others in its achievement .One of the research concluded that it is the staff nurses who can confirm if initiatives designed and planned for the development of the wellbeing of a environment of work are victorious.
