What Happened?

Reading the provided details of the case, it is clearly determined that standard care procedures were not followed by the nursing professionals, which can be cited as the cause of death of Mr. Ard. In this relation, this case entails violation of ethical as well as legal principles. First of all, the ethical principles will be examined in order to broaden the understanding regarding the case, which will eventually be proven helpful in determining legal implications.

According to the conception of the Court, care represents a variety of interventions to preserve and sustain patient's life, prevent illness, and to participate in palliative care activities. However, delayed response seems to have been the cause of death of Mr. Ard which certainly is violation of nursing ethics. This means that while care is biological concern, it is also true that the care transcends the limits of corporeality to reach the land of morality (Westrick & Dempski, 2009). It can also be said that the existence of a code of ethics means that the profession has reached a level of development and maturity, which makes it able to determine by consensus. However, the hospital in which Mr. Ard was under treatment had nurses who were either not following ethical principles or were not aware of them. The discussion regarding ethical principles reveals that, nurses certainly have violated them, by not giving adequate attention to Mr. Ard who has been suffering from a serious disease.
