American Nursing Association (ANA) defines nursing as,

“Nursing is the promotion, optimization and protection of health and alleviation of suffering via diagnosis and cure of humanoid response and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations.”
