Safely use medical devise to assist the immediate care or treatment for an adult or older person

According to U.S Department of Health and Care Services (2000, pp.6), hazards are the potential harming factors that may arise in the use of medical devices because of medical treatment's inherited risk. The importance of safety in using medical device for assisting the immediate treatment of care for an older person or adult is vital in the field of nursing. In my nursing profession of 20 years, I have also given important consideration in the safety of medical devise usage. I highly believe that the utmost responsibility of nurses, doctors, hospitals and other health and social care organizations is to ensure the safety of people's lives who need care or treatment facilities.

In order to ensure safety usage of medical device, I effectively identify hazards that might cause danger to the quality of services to adult clients. I use human factor engineering approach to assure the safety of medical device usage. I use sufficient time in evaluating the hazards including chemical, mechanical, thermal, electrical, radiation and biological hazards. Before using any device, I follow the proper guidance on how the device should be used. I give importance consideration in order to identify the harmfulness of a device along with the critical requirement for using the device for a particular adult client. I also give importance consideration to the environment in which patient is receiving the treatment or care.

I believe that the use of environment with a lot of light, distraction, vibration, workload or noise would ultimately result in ineffective or unsafe treatment or care. Therefore, I effectively specify the characteristics of user interface, complexity of the device and the procedures and operational requirements. My success in the field of professional nursing is achieved by the use of effective measures in order to ensure the safety of the devices that are being used for treating people.
