Introduction

The system of delivering healthcare is evolving rapidly in the U.S day by day, spurred ever onwards due to improving mandates, trainings and technologies, etc. Even now nurses are in the front of pack in facilitating the ever modernizing initiatives. A committee was formed in 2010, by the Institute of Medicine so as to find out the roles which can be assimilated by the nurses to cater to the increasing demand of effect, safe and high quality health care services. There have been four recommendation made by the committee firstly to make sure that the nurses have the leverage to expand to the maximum potential granted by the trainings and educations, improving the quality of education, giving them a chance to take on the mantle of leadership and improve the collection of data in the policy making and planning of the workforce (Ebner, 2010).

Discussion

They have highlighted six recommendations for the required improvement for the nurses. Out of the six, I have selected one i.e.

“Identification of the personal and professional characteristics most important to leaders of quality improvement initiatives in hospitals and other settings.” (n.d., 2012)

According to my specification, I think this is the most relevant point be mentioned. In order to train a number of nursing staff to assume the role leadership it is imperative to identify the professional and personal characteristics that are assimilated by the leaders.
