ANA (2010) clearly define the role, responsibility and objectives of nurses. Black (2014) also identifies the four main objectives of a nursing professional. These include:

Define nursing practice

Licensing requires a minimum standard of education and academic background

Establish the abbreviations a nurse can use in the practice

Guide the disciplinary behavior and conduct of the nurses (Black, 2014).
