1. Nike Inc. Marketing Process

In this task the focus would be on explaining how various elements of the marketing process assist in promoting company's Product.

a. Explain Definitions of marketing and how it's applicable for Nike, Inc.?

Marketing refers to management process through which the concept of goods and services are transfer to customers. According to American marketing association, marketing has been refer to an activity or it is a set of institutions and process for developing, communicating, delivering and exchanging their offers to customers in order to value them (AMA, 2013, p. n.d).

Chartered Institute of Marketing has define marketing as a process of management that is responsible of recognizing, anticipating along with satisfying requirements and needs of the customers profitably (CIM, 2009, p. 3). Kotler has define marketing as an Art and Science of selecting targeted markets and sustaining, attracting customer via creating, delivering and communicating advanced customer value. Overall, marketing is the process through which company spread awareness of their product within the people or marketing is a channel through which business sell their product (Kotler, 2012, p. 32).

Companies has been utilizing this company in order to increase their sales and also communicating new product or new improvement in their products. Nike Inc has been using marketing concept for each of their product (p.445). With this, they have been one step ahead from their competitors. Nike marketing starts with innovation, brand image, customer preferences and product differentiation. For instance, if Nike introduced new or improved product that will satisfy more to customer, Nike will market them-selves in sport event since their Target Market are athletes. According to the definition stated by Chartered Institute of Marketing, Nike Inc will be identifying the needs of athletes and sportspersons and they will manufacture a product that will meet requirements of these people in profitable manner (p.442). For Nike Inc, marketing is to be creative i.e. to make their product innovative towards their target market and to give superior value to them in terms of quality and offering new products in order to be leader in the market (p.445).

They think their business with respect to customer requirement and their satisfaction. For Nike selling and market is quite different. Nike Inc, believes that selling is just concern with methods of exchanging for cash for products whereas, Marketing offer different thing that is it initially discover the need and what customer is looking for (like for better footwear, more comfortable apparel for sports, attractive sports equipments), creating new product and stimulate and influence customer needs i.e. telling potential clients that they are important to them and company value them (p.443). Nike Inc, has been given less importance to pay cash for their product, for them, they need to create demand for new product by offering innovative feature in previous and hence, meeting customer requirements (Kotler, 2012, pp. 442-445).
