New Techniques in an Accident Investigation

New Techniques in an Accident Investigation

Introduction

Security techniques are a set of actions aimed at the detection and correction of the various factors involved in the risk of accidents and the control of its possible consequences. It is therefore necessary that everything that happened in the accident environment is reflected, tidy and organized. Notification of accidents is in the making and sending a document that describes in full and summarized the accidents (Harms, 2003). A notification should appear data where, how and why accidents occur. The paper discusses the important accident investigation techniques that are widely used. Ideally, an investigation should be conducted by an expert in accident causation, experienced investigative techniques, with full knowledge of the work process, procedures, personnel and industrial relations environment of a particular situation. Unfortunately, it is difficult to find such people. Especially in smaller organizations, workers and supervisors have little, if any, of prior research experience that they can apply to participate in an accident investigation.

The Techniques

The major accident investigations are conducted to discover the cause of the accident and prevent similar accidents in the future. The incidents not involving injury or property damage should be investigated anyway to determine the risks to be addressed. The same principles apply to a rapid survey of a minor accident and for a more formal investigation of a serious event. A number of methods for accident investigation have been developed, with their own strengths and weaknesses. Some methods of great importance are selected for further examination. The selection of methods for further description is not based on any scientific selection criteria. But the methods are widely used in practice, well acknowledged, well described in the literature and some methods that are relatively recently developed.

Taking Pictures

The incident light should be thoroughly described in any large scale from the view that contains the site and size of the periodic closure of exact location has been described from different perspectives. Photos of machinery, equipment and other items to be taken into account, even if they do not seem to be relevant at the moment (Hollnagel, 2002). Close-up pictures of the critical factors are recommended. It is advisable to have some image gives the viewer the idea of ??scale, and sometimes the direction, such as: a person is standing next to the device, a compass or rule on a close-up. Do not frugal with the movie. It may be later, which first material should be not considered essential. Pictures can help greatly when the scene was recovered. Have the pictures developed as soon as possible; this is a good policy not to disturb the scene until the images were reviewed clarity. Field Descriptions of each picture taken goal is value, when later viewing your photos developed (Hollnagel, 2002).
