New Racism is Classism

Introduction

In the modern world it seems as if mankind is always seeking manners in which it can satisfy it imbedded nature of discrimination and distinction, and placing one group over others. This trait has found its way in numerous ways, ever since man was born in this world, and depicted their differentiation based on various platforms and domain, such as color, regional establishment, financial disparity and many other factors.

Racism

In literal context, the term Racism denotes the discrimination that is exercised by the society or the member of society against another particular group of the same society; or even the placement or positioning of one particular group of inhabitants over the other group, is deemed as racism (Yeskel p.12).

Classism

Classism is yet another form of differentiation and distinction between numerous groups existing within a society. In literal sense, the term Classism denotes the discrimination, prejudice or bigotry that exists in the society or among the groups of the society based on the social classes (Thomsen p.89).

How new racism is classism

Times and eras have changed, but what has not changed is the intrinsic nature of mankind. Differentiation between mankind has found numerous faces over time. Ironically, since the primitive time the mankind had been endeavoring to abolish and relinquish the ever propagating and dispersing elements of animosity, hatred and discrimination, but the same mankind seems to somehow find its way back in to the same hole, in different aspect. It seems as if realistically the humanity itself does not want to relinquish the factors that classify them in to distinct groups and rate their positions among each other. The history manifests that American population has been the primary victim of racism been before its independence (Thomas p. 77). For a greater time, the African Americans were subjected to unneeded and man-devised racial norms, which earned them the status of slaves, as well as non American citizens for a considerable time. However, being the biggest proponent of liberty and human rights, America faced the greater challenge of setting the matters right and equal in its own homeland first, instead of advocating them to the outer world. Therefore, in order to earn itself the reverence of the land that welcomes everyone from every race, and renders equal opportunities for all, America fought hard to leave back the primitive aspects of prejudice and bigotry based on race and color. ...
