Section 1 Background and Purpose of the Study

Provide a concise description of the research project.

State the objectives, and rationale.

Provide background information on the hypothesis and/or research question to be tested including references/citations, if applicable.

This research project has directed its focus on the evaluating the insinuation of Postpartum Depression or PPD in new parents. It is not necessary that only women will have to suffer this depression can take place in new fathers too. The depression is critical in nature yet is not beyond the cure and treatment. The project aims to find those ways which can prove to be helpful while managing this kind of depression in men and women.

The research project revolves around exploring the implications of PPD in new mothers and fathers. The study aims to establish the true understanding of stress in PPD in women. There are types of PPD as well which have variant impressions on the mental status of the human beings. It also encompasses the impact of stress while handling the newborn in the family. In the end the study tends to suggest some intervention methodologies and techniques which can prove to be highly functional under most circumstances.

Postpartum Depression or PPD is also termed as postnatal depression which is clinical in nature. The impact includes its effects on women more than men and appears after childbirth. This kind of depression becomes chronic if not treated in the needed manner. New mothers and fathers are prone to catching this depression that appears in three stages. Among it constitutes from 5% to 25% and in men it exists from 1% to 26%. The treatment requires some meaningful interventions from trained professionals. The hypothetic statement in the project believes that the impact of PPD can be lowered through some concrete exercises. There are a few risk factors as well that have be entertained first prior to starting any treatment (Beck & Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses, 1999).
