Every node of the LAN connects with the computer system having its own Central Processing Unit (CPU) through which programs are executed. Moreover, this computer system is capable of accessing devices and data anywhere within the LAN. In this way, with the help of LAN, multiple users can take advantage from several expensive devices like laser printers and data. Moreover, users are capable of communicating with each other through LAN by engaging in chat sessions and sending e-mails. In LANs, data rate is high but offers limited distance.

Ans: 2 Wide Area Network is the abbreviation of WAN. WAN is similar to LAN, but the size of the WAN is quite bigger as compared to LAN. Unlike LAN, WAN is not confined to a small area or single location. WANs cover large distances through fiber-optic cables, satellite links or telephone lines. When many smaller LANs are interconnected, it creates a WAN. Internet is the best example of the world's biggest Wide Area Network. For expanding the area of the LAN, one LAN connects to another LAN which is present at any distance by using radio waves or telephone lines. This collection of several LANs makes WAN.

Ans: 3 Wireless Local Area Network is the abbreviation of WLAN. It covers short distances for providing wireless network communication by using infrared or radio signals rather than network cabling. Existing wired LAN can be extended typically by using the structure of WLAN. The device Access Point is attached at the edge of the wired LAN for building WLAN. In this system, users communicate with the Access Point with the help of wireless network adaptor which is similar to conventional Ethernet adapter function wise. WLANs experience several network security problems.

Ans: 4 Although, there are many differences between WAN and LAN, but the three main differences include its speed, its coverage as well as its bandwidth. LAN's coverage limits to a small area, whereas WAN covers a broad area through using public or private network transports. The difference in the speed or data rate is also the major difference. The speed of LAN is high and can go up to 1000 Mbps whereas the speed of WAN can go up to only 150 Mbps. Moreover, LAN provides high bandwidth for data transmission, whereas WAN provides low bandwidth for data transmission.
