Network designing is an increasingly important concern for small and medium sized companies, in this age of technological advancement. This paper suggests for the designing of a particular network design plan for a small company, and recommends on the basis of the most suitable networks available. It also defines and mentions different operating systems that can be useful for small companies.
Choosing “Software” for a Small Company
A small company needs to keep in mind, many concerns related to the design and execution of a network for itself. My company occupies a small self-contained, single-story business unit (of which they are the sole occupants) which is part of a larger business park. They employ 24 staff comprising of a CEO, 5 administrators, 2 business development managers and 16 specialist consultants. One of the most significant inquiries network managers of small business face is how to get higher bandwidth without disturbing the living network. The variations in these networks are dependent upon the level of expertise of the company and the scope of innovation that might be incorporated (Steiner, 2007). Let us review the basic network plan, along with explaining the major components in our design, to guarantee a secured and comprehensive network for a growing company.
The following section discusses the components of our design, as laid out in the figure:
Gateway
The connection of two dissimilar networks is carried out with the help of a gateway. In our design, the gateway connects the internet to the LAN and DMZ which are present on different networks. It also acts as a firewall in addition to other functions (Karlof, 2003).
LAN (Local Area Network)
LAN installation is preferred at areas which are suitable for data protection and offers overall security to the system. LAN is typically placed on a private network. The most common local area network technology based on Ethernet or Wi-Fi. To build a simple local area network using routers, switches, wireless access points, wireless routers, modems and network adapters. Less commonly used transducers (converters), medium, signal amplifiers (repeaters sorts) and a special antenna.
Caching DNS Server
The process of temporarily storing data values ??in a special memory pool for faster access is called caching. For the server DNS in general, it means the ability of the DNS server to store information learned on the DNS name space during query resolution ...
