Introduction

Net Speak is the special language used by individual during their communication through the internet. One can only make the best use of internet only if he or she is proficient in Net Speak. Net Speak often involve special expressions and abbreviations, which make it difficult for a normal person who is not used to of it to understand. Individuals unaware of Net Speak should also realize that it is not necessary that all their words or sentences are understood by the other person. He or she properly study different terms used during internet usage in order to effectively communicate. Once the individual has come to terms with Net Speak, it is time to learn Netiquette. It is a set of rules applied during conversation or communication over the internet (Aranda, 2008). There are few posts, which would be fine for one individual, but it may abuse other individual as he or she may find it disturbing. So one must know the rules and regulation to have a conversation on the internet and know the proper usage of internet. Individuals may also deliberately abuse others which may result to the stoppage of their internet usage or any social media like Face book. Development of Net Speak and Netiquette also depend upon the particular community. Some communities may interpret rules and regulations differently than other communities. So it is very important to understand the culture and language of a particular society in which one person is communicating. Different language and culture may also make it difficult for the other person who understands the language and expressions used by the other person. This paper will look at the advancements made in Net Speak and Netiquette and what are the common tools used for communication on the internet. The paper will also realize the rules of communication in place if any and the affects of Net Speak on society.

Data Collection and Methodology

In order to find the different advancement made in Net Speak and Netiquette, a pool of 100 randomly selected graduates of New York Universities was made, and their online communication with their friends was monitored, with their permission. Moreover, a focus group was conducted that involved extensive brainstorming session with individuals who frequently communicate online. A thorough analysis was done on the usage of internet and type of communication used, consequences of online communication and rules that are necessary for new users to understand in order to successfully communicate on the internet. 

Results and Observation

The study found out to be very fruitful, and many comprehensive results were concluded which would provide assistance in the areas that need to be improved. Following results were found and observed:
