Overall, when negotiating a contract (i.e. purchasing agreement) of any type other than real estate (Sports, labor, services, product, etc.) would having an agent make the negotiation process easier or more difficult for you? Explain your response regarding the use or no use of an agent.

In all negotiation, the parties that are involved are the whole sole decision makers in the process. The principal parties that are involved can be two individuals or even an entire committee of people. Negotiations can be a complex procedure to go through with. Many arguments can arise during negotiations and it is necessary to have at least one neutral party that can help in sorting out the differences and coming up with an end result.

This is the point when an agent is needed. An agent can help a lot in making the negotiation process easier as well as faster to complete. An agent basically is a representative of the main interests of the principal decision makers. If the agent is qualified enough and has complete knowledge about the deal and the interests of the parties involved, he/she can be a neutral party and come up with the best solution for to get a conclusion on the negotiation process. For instance, an agent can intervene in between a negotiation process of a company's purchasing department whose staff is negotiating their term on the lease agreements or acquisition of machinery or equipment etc.

An agent is the best option that the negotiation parties can avail because they help in sorting out the matters more quickly. If the agent has acquired sufficient information on the deal and has complete knowledge about the interests of the parties, it can serve as the best neutral option to get a solution for the negotiation. However, an agent is of no use to the negotiation process, if he/she gets his own interests in the deal. That's when the agent is unable to give an unbiased and fair decision for the negotiation process.
