Introduction

Mathematics plays a vital role in every kind of studies undertaken by the students and professionals. It is primarily responsible for the developing the nations engineers, scientist and other professionals which provide solutions for the society, country and the world at large. A strong foundation of mathematics enables people in making remarkable achievements not only in the scientific fields but also in economics, creative problem solving and understanding of the world. Mathematics provides strengthening to the economy of the nation. It is vital in technology, physical sciences, business, many areas of ICT and financial services. The biological sciences, medicine and numerous social sciences are all making use of mathematics and statistics to study patterns in the behaviour of the treatments and causes major illness. The necessity of ensuring the supply of people having mathematics, science, engineering and technology has been at the heart of the UK Governments strategies for innovation and productivity. Mathematics is the key driver of the numerous fields of study and the weakness in application and conceiving daily problems in mathematics models will result in the decline of UK's ambition to remain central to the world stage.

The studies which under took the after the publishing of report of Professor Adrian Smith's revealed serious deficiencies in the teaching mechanism being employed by teachers in UK. Some teachers are doing a remarkable job in making the students understand the concepts of mathematics and problem solving; others are merely focusing on clearing the exams. My need analysis will not only focus on the effective use teaching methods being employed by teachers, but will also focus on the behavioural aspects of the students. Sometimes the teachers lose their ambitions of teaching intensively due to students and parents focus on clearing the exams and proceeding towards professional life. It can also be said that students do lose their interest due to the bookish style of teaching and pragmatic approaches for studying to clear exams. It is also worth mentioning that now there are more things to distract students from studies which should be taken into account and possible harnessed to the advantage of learning.

Self Needs Analysis

Since being associated with the teaching and educational management profession for eight years, I have come to the conclusion that there our teaching methodology requires more in-depth analysis and modification to incorporate more thorough learning in the students. I have been involved in teaching mathematics and received hands on exposure of the student's behaviours and teaching challenges. I then proceeded in my teaching career and was managing the department as second to the head of department. I incorporated my own learning and modern teachings of management to the teaching staff in my department and provided guidance in managing the behaviours. I provided guidance to newly appointed teachers for ensuring the success in completing their induction period. I prepared lesson plans, conducted tests and made progress reports.
