Defining a Portfolio

The term “portfolio” is utilized in several manners depending upon the framework of use. In organisational or political sense, a portfolio illustrates a distribution of responsibilities and work tasks. In education, a portfolio is an anthology of information that communicates the illustration of learning that has happened for a person in a precise programme or course of studies. A professional portfolio is an arranged anthology of various sorts of evidence and information that illustrate a person's continual professional development (CPD) experiences and activities, professional goals and achievements, and competencies. It is both a duty of detail and a means through which the author or developer of portfolio attains and develops expertise in contemplative examination and communication whether this is by computer-mediated, like e-portfolio or written formats (Williams & Jordan, 2007).

Importance of Maintaining a Professional Portfolio

The overall procedure of formulating a portfolio facilitates a professional or a university student to illustrate paradigms of his or her skills, experiences, and qualifications. It must be observed as an expansion of a person's curriculum Vitae or resume, rather not a substitute. Maintaining a professional portfolio determines a person who he or she is, what his or her life philosophies and goals are, what he or she does best, and how a person desires to represent himself and his achievements to a targeted audience. A professional portfolio can also present an important means to evaluate an individual's personal growth, interview efficiently, navigate career changeover and track a person's professional development (Andre & Heartfield, 2011).

Welcome to my digital or electronic portfolio. My name is ( / student). Currently, I am enrolled in the degree of bachelor of nursing, at the University of Western Sydney. I completed my high school education from Evans High School.

A person with resourceful, energetic, and dynamic attributes who is comfy with being the “go to” individual for everything associated with the smooth operations of an organization. I apply a flexible and proactive approach to managing several various priorities, and capable to work independently and take possession of all factors of a project or task.

I determined to study nursing as I have been personally influenced through how empathetic nursing employees can be. My younger brother was crucially sick in ICU and services of the nursing staff were astonishing. I sought to be a part of that group, and determined to pursue that objective.
