Interim Report

Introduction

Basically, this is an interim report of my final project that is in progress and we, as a group working on it. In this report, there will be a brief description that how much my work has been completed and how much is left. How the work is going on and what progress is still required to acquire for the final dissertation. The interim report is prepared for the purpose of providing a quantitative evaluation of the progress of the work that is being done or has done throughout the final project placement.

In this report, there will be a detail of the project regarding its initial planning, a summary of the work done on the project to date, a detail of the group activity, an outline of any challenges and problems foreseen or encountered, and last but not the least, an updated plan of the work that is needed to successfully complete the project work. In addition to it, there will also be a detailed list in the last the of the report regarding the referenced material collected for this project work to date and also a summary of the Literature Review that will be then included in the Final dissertation.

Project Overview

For this project work, the topic that has been chosen is the “optimisation and improving the line of production in Najran Cement Company”. The company is a well-reputed cement company and established in the year 2005 as a 'Saudi Joint Stock Company'. Currently, the plant is comprised of two different production lines, in which one is the GU (Grinding Unit) production line, whereas the other one is the (CPP) Captive Power Plant (Sabri, 2001, p. n.d).

The company is working on the continuous basis for the enhancement and improvement of the production line while working on other product lines as well. The Najran Cement Company puts emphasis on the maintenance of the lines of production that ultimately improve and optimise the production lines of the company (Sabri, 2001, p. n.d).

Project Assessment

Initial Project Plan

For this project work, the initial planning was based on the assumption that this project work will find out that how the Najran Cement Company is enhancing and optimizing their line of production. For that purpose, it was planned for focusing on different ways that are used by NCC (Najran Cement Company) for improving and optimizing their lines of production by setting up new production lines. It was also planed initially that the project will be finding out the efficiency and usefulness of the maintenance program of the production line 1 through closing down the activities of the that line of production.
