Abstract

In this paper, we try to focus on Naturalism. We try to cover these questions in our research paper that are Define Naturalism. What are its key ideas, and how are those ideas presented in the literature we have examined? You must discuss either Crane or London and how he represents Naturalism. Discuss how Realism, Regionalism and Naturalism are connected. Show the evolution of the literary periods by discussing a text from each period that represents it. How are these similar or different? Think about themes and character analysis.

Define Naturalism

Naturalism is a literary movement which extends the realism and seeks to paint the reality based on a meticulous documentation and referring in particular to the method experimental physiologist Claude Bernard. Naturalism focuses on the complex diversity of deviance and the deviant subject, requiring criminologists to appreciate or empathize with the deviant phenomenon, to consider it from the subject's definition of the situation, ultimately to understand how the world appears to the subject. In contrast to a correctional approach which emphasizes the need to get rid of pathologically deviant phenomena, Matza celebrates the diversity reflected in deviance as a necessary and vital part of society (Boyer, 2001).

What are its key ideas, and how are those ideas presented in the literature we have examined?

Naturalism is a literary movement that took place roughly between the late nineteenth century (from 1880) and mid-twentieth century (mainly to 1940). The roots predate the movement, as the naturalist writers took their ideas and developed from the dominant literary movement in the nineteenth century, realism. Following are the ideas and how those ideas presented in the literature we have examined are as follows: While some critics have tried to label naturalism as a kind of "radical realism", this movement has enough depth and character to be away from the realism and considered different (Bunge, 2001).

In short, where realism was basically descriptive, purely literary and attentive only to the bourgeois social stratum and primary developer of self-consuming, Naturalism was a movement with deep influences, among which especially the theory of Darwinian evolution and deterministic philosophy and higher goals, not only to show the life of his time "as was" but end "for what it was like he was," and do not ignore its most beautiful nor the most unpleasant.

The works often include naturalists, in fact, poverty, racism, sex, prejudice, disease, prostitution, filth and death treated in a drama-free, which made them somewhat difficult, for the public were general and got, criticized for being too direct and frank. Against the optimism and progressive liberal than they used to demonstrate the realistic writers, naturalism showed strongly pessimistic, and against the "defense of freedom" it of the realists, the naturalists deny free will and took refuge in his deterministic pessimism, saying that the social and natural conditions of the characters prevents them from living according to His will (Nielsen, 2001).
