National renewable energy action plan in European Commission

Introduction:

The European Union has laid great concerns on the conservation of energy in recent years. In various conferences, it has emphasized greatly on strategies and plans to hoard rapidly depleting energy resources. The European Commission has been aggressively working on possible measures to prevent energy wastage and promote alternate energy sources for conservation of energy for future consumption.

In its action plan 2011, European Commission has clearly indicated its aim to transpose 20% of its energy consumption from conventional depilatory sources to renewable energy sources by 2020 and 10% energy obtainment for transport purposes specifically. The energy sources currently in focus include solar, wind, tidal power, geo-thermal, hydroelectric and biomass. The plan addresses all the member states of the European Union and requires each state to make aspiring strategies to meet the targets.

The Energy Strategy 2020 proposed by the commission proclaims greater economic competitiveness by implementing innovation policies devised for renewable energy sector's development. The Directive offered in 2011 conference established a sturdy framework for the headway of the renewable energy in Europe. The adoption of National Renewable Energy Action Plans by all EU members has ensured that robust foundations have laid for steadfast EU action on renewable energy.

It has also been mentioned in the directive that the Commission will be evaluating the performance of a systematic plan of action for support and cooperation in the light of the 2014 review. The Commission will also make provisions for more congruous reforms facilitate the cooperation mechanisms and play a role for the advancement of renewable energy projects.

Introduction

The European Union has changed their climate and energy policy by which they have committed to reducing the gas emission. The European Union has planned to reduce the emission of greenhouse gas up to 20 percent and replace it by renewable energy. They have planned to increase the share of renewable energy to the total power production by 2020. European Union has divided their overall target among their member states to achieve it by the end of 2020. The EU directive 2009/28/EG has mentioned the targets of the entire member states in which task given to Germany is to increase the use of renewable energy by 18 percent. In order to achieve the overall target the measures have to be taken in all individual areas which includes electricity, heating and cooling and transportation as these are the largest consumers of oil and gas. Hence Germany has also laid down their target according to pattern provided by the European Commission. This action plan provided by each member state not only provides a tool to the European commission to evaluate the implementation of their plan.
