Should Abortion be Made Legal?

Introduction

Abortions are one of the most discussed ethical issues in the present day health issues. It is a source of conflict in many countries who either support abortion or those who do not. The paper would examine the role of abortion in the society and the fact that it should be made legal in the society so that an end can be brought to all the illegal abortions that are not only raising crime rate, but leading to higher death rates for expecting women as well. Their health and existence is in a state of jeopardy due to the illegal abortion centers that exist in every nook and cranny. Making abortions legal would bring an end to the scenario and bring an end to the reign of the fake medical professionals who perform the task without giving a second thought the consequences that may follow after the abortion is done in an unhygienic room with an unprofessional manner. Also an end would be seen to the rising rate of abortions that are taking place in Unites States, with the number on the rise each passing year. Statistics reveal that one in three women in United States of America has had an abortion in her years of fertility. This reflects that with what ease they have the facility of abortion available through illegal means. Abortion is becoming a phenomenon that includes both social and moral duty and hence it should be made legal to prevent any mishaps.

Argument

Before a discussion is initiated, have a look at the case narrated by a female, who was 23 years old at the time of the abortion that she opted for in an illegal way. She narrates her story as; I was given the phone number of the abortionist by my friend whose other friend had already had an abortion from him. I called him and a man picked up. I told him my situation and how badly I wanted to get an abortion. After negotiating rates that were within my range he gave me a date, time and the address. I made arrangements of the money by pulling out my whole savings that were $275 and borrowed $250 from my friend. On the day, I travelled alone to the given address, which was located in one of the run down areas, in a dark dingy street. The house had a moldy look and looked abandoned. I rang the bell and a man opened the door, and the first thing he asked for was the money. After I had handed him over the money, he gave me a dirty towel and asked me to remove all my clothes except my top. Nervous and afraid, I followed as he instructed.
