My Plans to Pursue a Career in a Health-Related Field

Introduction

I believe that nursing as a profession has turned over the years. Nursing as a profession is emerging from the Nightingale era. Knowledge of cultural diversity is the key which enable better health practices to the needs of contemporary society, and this is where anthropology lends its support to the hospital. Nursing is a great profession. A nurse, once registered is professionally accountable and responsible for her actions. The main factors that helped me to purse a career in nursing are immense nursing knowledge, leadership qualities and quick-wittedness. My academic and work history is perfect for pursuing the study of nursing. Moreover, my personal circumstances also make me the best candidate for pursuing a career in nursing.

My short term goals are to improve and master my skills in nursing as a profession and achieve my nursing informatics certification. On the other hand, my long term goal is to setup my own health care facility in a third world country such as in Africa to help those who cannot afford to pay for health care bills. It will facilitate the poor people to avail the quality. I believe that I have to develop strong interpersonal skills for the sake of lifelong learning within my professional role of nursing as the nurses are expected to support and cater to the patient's needs. This calls for a great deal of caring, consideration, and communication with the patients, so as to make them realize that they have valid feelings and to help them to overcome those issues. I strongly believe that the development of professional nurses is enhanced by health care delivery in a technologically advanced and continuously evolving society.

Discussion and Analysis

I have always dreams of becoming a nurse from childhood, greatly inspired by other nurses and specially the most renowned Florence Nightingale and Clara Barton. What inspires be of being a nurse is a profession which is focused on assisting individuals, communities and families in maintaining, attaining and recovering the functioning and optimal health.
