Introduction

Conflict does not always occur where there are opponents but it is also a feature of strong relationship. As a matter of fact two people living together may not always agree one thing in their lives. To understand the reason of conflict and to avoid it or to resolve it while being the part of it, is quite complex. If the conflict is not controlled in its earlier stage it breaks the relationship. On the other hand if it is handled with care and is controlled intelligently it further strengthens the relation and becomes the reason of increased understanding among the people. Therefore, the skills required to deal with conflicts and to resolve situations related to it are quite important and should be learnt as through them one's personal and professional relations not only develops but becomes strong as well.

Discussion

There are two dimensions which are widely known for resolving conflict. One is assertiveness and the other is cooperation (Grace & Harris,1990, pp. 144-146). Assertiveness as being one of the two ways of resolving conflict is relatively complex. Those people who are not assertive by nature cannot play a vital role in conflict resolution. They usually become passive in such situations and show their introvert side of nature in such circumstances.

My personality dynamics have shown that I am fairly assertive and I usually do not avoid handling the situations of conflict. The people who avoid handling the situations of conflict are those who realize the presence of conflict but still remove themselves away from it.
