Music of Arvo Pärt's been with us for over three decades. And although his work has been widely recorded and performed regularly, it has historically given cursory attention, if any, in the annals of 20 th century music. Most likely, this omission is rooted in uncertainty, rather than indifference. Pärt's work is difficult to describe and even harder to classify stylistically. How is the century nears completion, we still do not know what to do with it. According to Paul Griffiths:
