Contrasting Femme Fatales in Two Films

The femme fatale is simply defined as an attractive and irresistible woman, which leads men towards danger. She is usually considered as the protagonist's romantic interest, and easily attracts them towards her. This involvement of the femme fatale with protagonist varies from mild flirtation to passionate love, sex and romance. She is always considered as the reason and cause of crime, and as a result the protagonist leaves her and rejects her. There was a range of films that reflected the crime in America and how the criminals are planning and plotting these crimes. They also reflected the insecurity that the people had to face living in their own country, as they didn't feel safe. These movies usually had a sad ending were people died or had to lose their relationships and other things. The movies were related to crime, violence, greedy and hard boiled perspectives, which was a reflection of the societal issues which were getting evil.

The titles of the movies reflected that they are based on femme fatale, like The Dark Passage, Fear in the Night, The Woman in the Window, Murder by Sweet and many more. These movies consist of characters of males that are usually hard-hearted and they encounter beautiful and seductive femme fatale. The woman manipulates the man and makes him fall in love with her, by using sexuality. The character of femme fatales as shown in some movies is different as she loves, cares and is reliable and trustworthy. This has been a theme of several classic and new movies as well.

In early 1940's the classic movies used the theme of femme fatales, and evil noir to make their movies attractive and successful. The Stranger on the 3rd Floor is one of the movies of 1940's which was made on the basis of the same theme. The movie is about the murders going on in the city, which is a result of the after effects of night mares.

Movie noir can be about the competitive men and women living in the world, or it can even reflect the depression symptoms identified in people.
