The novels published so far have been received well by the critics and hence are a major success. Cassandra Clare's real name is Judith Rumelt. She is an American Fiction novelist and has bagged several awards for her series such as 2010 Georgia Peach Book Awards for Teen Readers and An American Library Association Teens Top Ten Award winner in the year 2008 (Miller, 2007). The author was born in Iran and realized her writing potential only after the success of the Mortal Instruments. Some of the critics and readers have also claimed the book to be a modern fairytale. The series is fascinated by the author and is her idea of a supernatural battle. She merged the idea with magic and secret societies and presented them from the point of view of a contemporary urban life.
