Task - 1

This task discusses a plan for monitoring a safe workplace at AOI institute. The plan involves conducting the inspection of occupational health and safety hazards through the identification of all hazards that poses risk. The identification of hazards will ensure to maintain a safe environment at workplace. Different hazards can be identified that may relate to equipments, procedures, environment, organizational management and human error.

Different employment situations are regulated by different health and safety standards. Superior organizational safety can only be achieved where the management of the organization is committed to the purpose, and employs hazard control and inspection programs for maximum safety (Mason, 2002).

The monitoring and management is very proactive in that they do not wait for the accident to occur and then they will go about doing something for it. In fact the risk management team in the environment department highlights the potential risk and manages them with relevance to their potential to harm the environment of the organization (McKoy, 2007).

The management should involve the employees across the board and encourage them to work as partners with the management in ensuring a risk and hazard free environment. For this purpose something as small as a reward program for the employee who suggests a possible strategy for a better environment management or highlights a possible risk factor will be recorded for his commitment towards the organization and sense of responsibility and ownership.

Communication among the management and employees is very important. This helps in understanding what the two, that is, the management and the employees expect from each other. Also, employees will be able to share their feelings through a proper channel. Selection of the workers who will be performing and looking after the health and safety related issues and concerns of the employees are vital (Mason, 2002).

Hazard is anything and everything that can cause any sort of harm to worker within the organization. These can be work methods, machines and even the way work is carried out. However, in certain instances, hazard can include the health impact of the work routine on the employees. The hazards which have been highlighted should be eliminated. There will be certain hazards which cannot be eliminated altogether. Hence, they should be managed to limit their ability to harm the employees or the organization.
