Of Mice and Men is one of its own kinds of novel. The novel is authored by the John Steinbeck. The novel “Of Mice and Men” is a friendship tale between two men. The friendship tale with an emotional twist is basically written with the United States 1930s great depression backdrop. The reflections of the real dreams and hopes of the working class of America with subtle characterization, is the main crisp of this novel. The deprivations of the poor and their inabilities are highlighted in the theme of the novel. The extremely shocking and climactic ending of the novel adds more beauty in it. But the author has placed a pragmatic view of life that it tends to continue and tragedies and happiness are all part of the life.
The novel starts with the scenario that there are two unemployed workers are crossing the country on foots in order to find a job opportunity. One is irresolute, cynical character named as George and the other name is an Lennie - a person with a mental disability (Steinbeck, 1947). George takes care of Lennie and treats him brother alike. Lennie, being affected with a mental disability that hampers the learning speed and react like a child, is a giant man of incredible strength. Lennie, though unintentionally, has touched a woman's dress and would be declared as a guilty of rape therefore, he had to move to the last town along with George.
