Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus is a novel by Mary Shelley. Shelley began writing the story when I was eighteen and the novel was published when he was nineteen. The first edition was published anonymously in London in 1818. Shelley's name appears in the second edition, published in France. (Adams, 2006)
