Introduction

The aim and objective of this assignment is to write one long essay on modern Europe and three short essays on “The French Revolution”, “hidden history of the period 1830 to 1870” and “The crime against humanity” respectively. In the following paragraphs, Discussion has been made on the European History, French Revolution and the related events which occurred in that period of history.

What is meant by Modern Europe?

The term “Modern Europe” has been used by historians for defining the period of European History which is spread from the middle Ages till the start of the Industrial Revolution. The history period of modern Europe is estimated to be from late 15th century to the late 18th century. The period of modern Europe started with the Renaissance movement of Italy and followed with the invention of printing facility. The events which later happened during the period of modern Europe include Fall of Constantinople in 1453, the Voyages of Christopher Columbus, start of the Protestant Reformation, end of the Wars of the Roses, completion of the Reconquista and finally the French Revolution which is linked with all the preceding events happened during the period of Modern Europe.

Rise of Northern Europe

Between 1600 and 1763, Portugal and Spain were being attacked and overtaken by Northern Europe countries including France, Britain and Holland. Moreover, in this regard the Northwest Europe became the most dynamic and influential region of the world. From their onwards the North European began to dominate the world until 1914. However, this domination of the North European does not started immediately but it foundation was started to began in 1763. Mean while the British overtook India, whereas the Dutch drove the Portuguese out of East Indies and the Northwest power stared to make them strong by setting up colonies and trading post on the coast of North America and Africa. Thus the rise of Northwest Europe as the leading commercial, industrial and military centre of the globe that laid during the Middle Ages, when there was a shift in the trading routes from Mediterranean to the Atlantic.

The culture and social structure played a major role and was responsible for the economic growth of the Europe. The elites of France, England and Holland were involved in business, which provide a brighter future to them. The class mobility was greater in Europe that engages them in financiers, merchants and business that could perhaps often buy their way to nobility. This became the reason for motivation to foster the spirit of competing in the world towards economic enterprises.

In North America, the British Empire, which would ultimately come to supplant Spain, established and extended its power according to a very different logic.
