This article is based on the research of the interactions of adult children with their older adults in the rural areas of Asia. According to research, the lifestyle of older adults is changing because of the migration of adult children to the developed counties. Migration of adult children has enforced difficulty in the survival of older adults (Zimmer et.al., 2007). The rise of difficulty in the survival of older adults is because of the lack of emotional and tangible support. Migration of adult children has disturbed the family-based support system of the rural areas of Asia. Due to the increment in the population of the older adults, older people are facing the absence of aging support schemes like pension (Zimmer et.al., 2007). Due to inadequate financial and physical support of family-based systems, older people are going through the hardships of life.
Purpose Of Research
In Asian society, the old tradition of supporting older adults economically and emotionally is almost ending up. In order to analyze the reasons and factors behind the abandonment of older adults by adult children, author made research (Zimmer et.al., 2007). Author also described the factors that are responsible for this neglecting and abandoning attitude of adult children towards their older adults. The theme and idea of the article is to know that are older adults being neglected by their migrated adult children in rural areas of Asia? Another theme of the article is that interaction of adult children with their older parents differs from their residential area? Another theme of the article is that what are those factors that led to abandonment of older adults from adult children? (Zimmer et.al., 2007).
