Q.1 what is the difference between an information system and a computer application?

The set of interrelated different computer components constitutes an information system. The purpose of these interrelated components is to collect, process, store, and provide information as an output which could be used to complete the particular business task (Satzinger, 2012). Most of the times these components are used interchangeably or synonymously, yet the information systems might include the database, software base, and any other related manual processes.

Computer application on the other hand can be defined as a software program used on the computing devices in order to execute set of related functions or carry out specific information related to the particular software program. The common examples of computer application might include Facebook application or an Iphone application etc.

2. What is the purpose of systems analysis? Why is it important?

In order to answer this easily, let's consider a building which needs to constructed, this will certainly require a developer to consider a better plan with the help an architect. Likewise a building cannot be constructed without the help of planning; programmers also cannot start developing a system, before having a analysis of the needs and requirements of the user of the system. So, system analysis clearly guides the person regarding the specification of what the new system should accomplish. For instance, a customer management software system is required to keep track of warranties, register products, customers, and various other functions, and service level analysis. Therefore, the importance of system analysis is clear that it defines the need of the customers (Satzinger, 2012).
