Introduction

The micro formats are a variation of semantic XHTML, and they enable publishing, index, and extraction of the information which is semi-structured, easy. This includes tags, contact information, the entries made on the calendar as well as reviews. This also enables in attaining the vision that got set with regards to Semantic Web. There are different micro formats that have surfaced and this help in fulfilling the goals of the Semantic Web projects that are well-known. Although it evades technology stack of RDF that exists, there are also processing tools that are inspired by artificial intelligence (White & Iivonen 2002, pp. 205). This paper talks about micro formats along with its meaning, purpose, usage, complications and intended scope. Moreover, it also consists of my opinions with regards to the topic.

Definition

The reason why it got designed is for the human beings, but it is also helpful for the machines. The micro formats are simple and contain data formats that get built on standards that have widely been adopted. The facilities of XHTML that currently exists can be taken advantage of as this can make the recycling of the web pages easy. Therefore, new services as well as applications can be made. The facilities of XHTML include the class attributes, as well as the micro formats. Therefore, they serve as a key with regards to Semantic Web. There are many applications that have been formed for micro formats and they relate to projects that are parallel to XML communities and Semantic Web. However, there are many strengths and weaknesses of micro formats and its alternatives which have given rise to the evolution of XHTML practices that are being adopted. Since there are many complexities that are involved with it, they can be invoked. However, it is also important to recognize the limits of the approach that is being used with regards to the micro formats. Although it has the ability to encode the information that is needed for readability of the machinery, the micro formats are not able to tackle with logical inferences and representation with regards to knowledge. Semantic Web is useful for the authors as well as the developers who can use it together (Zhang, et.al. 2001, pp. 77).

Meaning

In order to overcome the challenges that are accidental, innovation is required in the software. With regards to micro formats, it can be said that they may be accidental. Practical limitations of the tools can be separated instead of creating a gap between the theoretical approach that is needed to understand the problem. An example that can be quoted to differentiate a file format that is separate for the information that can be read by the machine. However, since it resides in the files that are external, it becomes difficult to succeed at all times.
