A framework is provided for the analysis and collection of data in the research design. The option and selection of the research design reflects the decision regarding priority being given to different dimensional ranges in the process of research. These dimensions include the significance of showing casual association of the variables and understanding behavior and its meanings in the particular social context. The research method is known to be a technique which is used for collecting data and it involves particular instruments including questionnaire, structured interview scheduled and specific observations in which researcher's watches and listen others. There are three most common criteria for the social research evaluation and these criteria's are reliability, validity and replication. While performing research, if researcher does not considered these criteria's, then it is evident that the research is not authentic (Bryman, 2012, p. 44).
Qualitative Approach
Conventionally, the research studies reported in different academic journals are based on the quantitative research approach, but many researchers have started to take interest in the input of qualitative research approach in the studies. Similar to quantitative methods, the qualitative methods of the research can also be used single-handedly in the research for addressing questions not agreeable to survey or experimental research. In the public health, qualitative research has its root in the sector or sociology and anthropology (Green & Browne, 2005, p. 46).
The qualitative research can be defined as the studies that can provide details of the human behavior, personality characteristics and emotions that quantitative method is not able to provide. The data taken from the qualitative studies explains the qualities and features of the research variables. The description in the qualitative studies cannot be easily reduced to numbers, but they can be achieved by the process of encoding. The information included in the qualitative data is related to the behavior of the user, desires, routines, needs, use cases and various other type of information, which is beneficial for designing product actually fitting into lives of the users (Dantzker & Hunter, 2011, p. 115).
Since the requirement of the quantitative research is data collection standardization for allowing statistical comparison, the requirement of the qualitative research is flexibility, allowing the response of the user's data as it appears in a session. Therefore, qualitative research adapts different forms of naturalistic observations such as structured interviews or ethnography. In these types of cases, it is the duty of the researcher to analyze and documents opinions, behaviors, pain points, needs, patterns and various other kinds of information without completely comprehending which data is more important. In the qualitative research, the researchers seek for trends in the data instead of performing a statistical analysis. In order to identify trends, the researchers analyze various statements of the research participants that are identical to their research (Bryman, 2012, p. 44).
The basic point is that if an statement is heard by one participant, then it is known as anecdote, it is heard by two participants, it is ...
