The purpose of this memorandum is to highlight the sexual harassment problems and to educate the staff about sexual harassment and underscore the company's anti-harassment policies that have been misused within the company. I, as a general manager of Southern Life Insurance Company want to point out the problematic behaviours that have been reported. Therefore, there is a needed to eliminate the hostile work environment in the office
The company strictly follows the policy that all the employees are responsible for assuring that the workplace is free from sexual harassment. Because of company's strong disapproval of offensive or inappropriate behaviour at work, all employees must avoid any action or conduct which could be viewed as sexual harassment, including but not limited to;
Such conduct is unwelcome, unreasonable and offensive to the person who is subject to the same.
The refusal or subjecting a person to such conduct by employers or workers (including superiors and colleagues) is used explicitly or implicitly as a basis for a decision which affects the access of such person for vocational training and employment, on the continuation of it, which he intends to wage or other employment decisions.
In that respect are there are elements to highlight the nature of the conduct clearly the sexual harassment, that such behaviour is not desired by the employees within the company due to a strict policy, there need to be a disruptive behaviour, lack of reciprocity and the imposition of behaviour. Provision should sexual conduct in a broad sense, noting that in the conduct of a sexual nature fall within the verbal or nonverbal, or physical discomfort defined in the company policy.
Unwanted physical contact (physical conduct of a sexual nature) may be varied and range from unnecessary touching, patting or pinch or friction with the body of another employee to attempted rape and sexual coercion. some of them are already criminalized by federal and state laws and is strictly bounded within the company policies.
Verbal conduct of a sexual nature may include unwelcome sexual advances, propositions or pressure for sexual activity; a focus for social activity in the workplace after it has become clear that the emphasis is annoying, offensive flirtations, suggestive comments.
In the nonverbal behaviour of a sexual nature would be included the display of sexually suggestive or pornographic pictures, objects or written materials, looks lewd, ...
