SUBJECT: Cost Reductions for the Department

The delivery of health care is an enormously information-intensive activity. Health informatics team is one of the main departments in this hospital. The importance of an integrated information system is thus, essential; since it provides exchange of information between different members of the working frameworks. The recent restructuring and cost-reduction initiative efforts taken by our hospital will also cause certain long-lasting implications for our department, as well. In this time of need, it is better that we bring about certain changes in our department that can cause lesser magnitude of loss to the functionality of the department, apart from just being cost-efficient.

I propose certain solutions to the recent cut of funds within the organization, in order to cope with the restricted funds' limitations. There are a number of ways that can prove to be positive outcomes in this context, provided we work in cohesion with the entire team. Firstly, the team can restrict its use of clinical information systems that are less effective at measuring the given parameter while also being more expensive to use. Partial and disintegrating information systems and communication solutions can be eliminated from the department in order to cut costs. Moreover, the department should incorporate numerous applications into one, integrated system in order to get rid of unnecessary software that can prove to be costlier than is imagined.

Traditionally, informatics department is organized by function and designed information systems costs, as they had greater difficulty in deciding how to allocate common or shared economic efforts by the various departments and central units. Contribute to health information system is essential to give comprehensive information about the patient quickly, efficiently and in a comfortable and easy. If we add to the application of health information system at the national level, its effectiveness and its importance is of the significance of a vital and strategic in terms of sharing information among medical institutions of different, and not within only a single institution.
