Medicine and Health: Analyzing Clinical Assessments
Introduction
Medicine and Health have been long associated and discussed at great length in terms of identifying the best and most effective form of nursing, treatment and healing for the patient. With this paper, we shall be able to decipher what are the core components and elements involved in the realm of healing and that what role does a mentor play in the light of assessing and examining learner's potential.
Definitions
Assessment
With reference to any area or field of expertise, assessments have been defined as a method of examining and scrutinizing the efforts that have been designed and developed to evaluate, rank and rate the performance of the candidates & students, their abilities and skills in the paper and their hold & command upon the relevant subject area upon which the examination is based (Zomorodi & Lynn, 2010, pp.89).
Validity in clinical assessment
To understand the term above, validity is the most important key word upon great emphasis has been put. Validity implies the correctness with which the answers are being made and delivered and that all answers obtained and gained from a clinical assessment should be true at all times, under any circumstances.
With reference to validity with reference to context of clinical assessment, it is suggested that all outcomes that are related to any particular situation, at any point in time, would yield into a specific, tried-and-tested outcome. For instance, it has been tested and that researches have taken that anaesthesia has a limited dose to work and be given to the patient at the time of the operation; in case if there takes place an overdose, it causes elongated sleeping patterns or simply death, depending upon the condition of the patient. Another example that could be quoted is that smoking is the root cause of cancer; now when it comes to testing this hypothetical claim and with the application of statistical tools and analysis, it is understood and highlighted that no matter how far and wide can a person smokes, either on occasional time intervals (in gatherings or parties, etc.) or on a regular basis (in the form of an excessive chain smoker), cancer cells and cancerous conditions do take place, targeting the lungs and the respiratory system in the human body (Beckstrand & Callister, 2006, pp.38).
The instances mentioned above are amongst the few examples that create validity and provide concise, yet concrete and correct details which could pave way for the purpose and objective of creating affirmative and positive constructs upon which researches and literatures are framed and brought to books.
