Nasir is a 5-year-old boy with Down syndrome and is enrolled in a treatment class. Nasir's parents say that he gets up very early in the morning, often just after 5:00 a.m. He comes from a big family and is the third of four children. They have a very busy lifestyle with frequent visits to extended family, attendance at numerous athletic events of older siblings, and some sleep overs of the siblings' friends. A few months ago Nasir's classroom staff noted that, on some days, Nasir has a tendency to engage in challenging behaviour (e.g., non-compliance, pushing educational materials away). The noncompliant behaviour (i.e., refusal to respond to simple requests) occurred more often during academic tasks such as letter identification or counting. They have noticed that over the last few weeks this has become much worse.

They have often been observed destructive behavior, aggression, stubbornness, deceitfulness, propensity to theft and other forms of antisocial behavior (Nadel, 2003).
Nasir is a little kid with Down syndrome which is already a very sensitive issue in which the kids can't express much. He has been having a very busy schedule with his family, too much of outing, less sleep as his parents say that he wakes up very early, hence he is getting more sensitive and just is not being able to express and taking it out in the classroom.
