This work is based on the illustrative photographs. Illustrative photographs are taken for many purposes for example, they provide visual examples to reinforce some message (e.g. advertisement), or provide an accurate photographic record of some object (e.g. for insurance purposes). According to Trachtenberg, 1980, “the term picture has emerged to describe those situations where the image is placed at the service of a speech, a story” (pp. 210). But t his definition is not yet sufficiently precise. In its most common meaning, "illustration" refers to any inserted an image in an editorial context.
