The purpose of this paper is to enlighten and explore the evolution of media in a holistic manner. The analysis of the paper will discuss the evolution of media from traditional to contemporary; in addition, it will also analyze the impact of media on social interactions, interpersonal communication and democracy. The media is an institution in its own right. Media have its own roles, functions and its relationship with other institutions. The invention of technology and social media has improved the status of personal and professional relationships by increasing the communication level between individuals. Communication plays a significant part in sustaining a relationship. Communication is the only process through which an individual interacts with another individual and expresses his ideas, emotions, views and opinions. The communication process in social media changes overall from language to expressions.
Impact on Media on Social Relations
Due to the inclination of social media and technology the people have succeeded maintaining long-distance relationship; because, the long-distance communication has become a fun experience for individuals. The language changes a lot as now there is no English which is either British or American but there is a new language for this new media. The relationship between public media and state changes drastically. The inclination of the social media has eliminated the factor of shy behavior from the world (August, Meadows, 2008). Now, no one can stay out of the world without socializing or interacting with the individuals. Due to the rise of social media, different groups with positive attitude can easily play their role in communicating their agendas to people around the hook and corners of the global world (August, Meadows, 2008). In addition, and many goals can be achieved by communicating on a mass level through the social media.
