Aims and Objectives

This proposal aims at bringing improvements in the Markeaton Park and The Mundy Play Centre structure and features, through proper management, and allocation of funds. However, this project proposal is not exhaustive, meaning it will just serve as a basis for the improvements. Many issues will be addressed in later improvement projects. The objective of this proposal is to gain the funds for the improvement of the Markeaton Park and The Mundy Play Centre.

By gaining the funds, the idea is to stop the declining trend in the number of visitors, and attraction to them. This will increase the funds by an increased number of visitors in The Mundy Play Centre. This can be utilized for further improvement and maintenance of the facilities provided. This will solve the grievances of the visitors regarding low quality of the facilities. The funds will help the park in bringing quality human resource which will work for improvements of the park and management, which will in turn improve many facilities and solve the issues of timings of openings of the park. Most important aspect of this project will be to preserve the historical beauty of the site. Therefore, the focus is on the uprising of one of the premier parks in East Midlands and increases its attraction of visitors and international audience.

Markeaton Park is still the most popular park in Derby, because of its range of facility, recreational opportunities and quality landscape. However, the facilities and quality is reduced over the passage of time. This in turn has reduced the visitors' attraction. This proposal is written in a hope of acquiring the funds by showing how the funds will be allocated towards the accomplishment of outcomes, set by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). These outcomes include;

1. Restore, repair and maintain the historical landscape, structures, buildings and features. Which in turn include:

2. Building core of the Markeaton Park, taking care of the remaining historic garden and buildings.

3. Water features in the park to enhance the beauty of the park.

4. Planting trees and woodland.

5. Highlighting the historic views of the parkland from the site of Markeaton hall.

7. Increasing the span of audience that visits the Markeaton Park for several reasons.

8. Keeping in view the historical importance of the site conserves the heritage value and work on further enhancement of it.

9. Increasing the ease of access, to historic elements in the park. This includes restoring the historic routes for the visitors.

10. The design will be in a way that facilitates the circulation for visitors. This will help the visitors explore the true beauty and hidden places of historical worth.

11. Provide training to employees and proliferate the learning to the general public as well, so as to spread the information regarding the parks heritage.
