Margaret Newman felt the calling to nursing for the number of years before its decision to enter the field. In the fall of 1977, he assumed the post of professor in charge of graduate studies in nursing at Penn State. In response to an invitation to speak at the conference on the theory of nursing in New York in 1978, Dr. Newman has assembled his thoughts on the theory of health and presented for the first time. Meanwhile, he continued research on the relationship in the movement, time and consciousness, and develops the theory of health as expanding consciousness. In 1984, he took the position as nurse theorist at the University of Minnesota, the further development of theory and related research to help students graduate. He retired from educating in 1996.
