The historic City of Britain, Manchester is located in the northern part of the island. It is characterized by a strong spirit metropolitan and Ethnicity Multi-Ethnic: even if consists approximately of 400 thousand inhabitants has a high-percentage of immigrants and the presence of two prestigious universities (University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University) which attract many students, who corroborate and amplify existing variety typical of this city.

Founded in 79 BC by the Romans, Manchester has linked his economic and urban development to the textile industry, in the specific to the production of the wool and to the cultivation of cotton favored by the humid climate and rainy that characterizes the area (MacKillop, 2012; Jayne, Hubbard & Bell, 2013). Although it is located 60 km from the sea, the economy of Manchester is based on port activities and at the end of 1800, thanks to the construction of the Manchester Ship Canal, became the third trading port in Britain.

It should be noted that the union between universities in Manchester and manufacturing industry has always encouraged scientific research especially in information technology and, not surprisingly, is where Alan Turing built the first computer (Allen, 2007; Dodge & Perkins, 2012). Manchester is also linked to sport, especially in football: it has two different teams who serve in the highest national and international tournaments, Manchester United FC and Manchester City. The right mix of tradition and modernity that characterizes Manchester and enhances the vibrancy is reflected in the culinary tradition: the many pubs and restaurants in the city combine dishes and gastronomic experimentalism, different ethnic groups and as many flavors blend together to create a pleasing mix and intriguing (Blakeley, 2010; MacKillop, 2012).

Manchester dominates the north of England on a plain which separates the Peak District to the south by the breathtaking Yorkshire moors to the northeast, and Meres the mountains of the Lake District in the northwest (Jayne, Hubbard & Bell, 2013; Allen, 2007). The surrounding countryside is undoubtedly considered one of the most beautiful in England, but almost no one notices at the beginning of this, Manchester is not picturesque in any way immediately. Even though there are gems of architecture, this city does not have the style and elegance of Bath, nor the charm of the ancient English city, such as Chester (Dodge & Perkins, 2012; Blakeley, 2010).

The story of a metamorphosis between museums and a large ultra-modern design located between the old docks once abandoned. Friedrich Engels, who lived there for 26 years in the first half of the nineteenth century (and with Karl Marx, then in exile in London, wrote us in 1848 the Manifesto of the Communist Party), called Manchester the first industrial city in the world (the first steam-powered cotton mill was inaugurated here in 1783) (MacKillop, 2012; Jayne, Hubbard & Bell, 2013).
