Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to make a case analysis named “The new Vice President of Mid-West University”. The paper makes discussion on the organizational development approach, and the different organizational development challenges faced in this case study. The paper makes discussion on the different theories, models and approaches of organizational development. The paper also makes reference of any organization that has gone through the transformational procedure, and makes discussion on the ways through which an organization can successfully build on the success. The paper also discusses the ways through which the unsuccessful ways can be transformed to a better future in a successful way.

Case Discussion

The case is about the Mid-West University and is about the selection of the vice president seat. The vice president of Mid-West University resigned because of the conflicts in the ideas. Therefore, the University started searching for the new vice-president. At that time, the university was facing different problems related to conflicts with the management, and the strikes by employees including some senior staff members. Most of the members from university suggested that Jennifer Treeholm should be the acting vice president. According to the staff members, Jenifer is an experienced member of the University, who has dedicated her ten years at the school. Therefore, the president decided to appoint Jennifer as the vice president of the school. During her tenure as the associate vice president, Jennifer had performed her duties in a very good way. She looked over different committees, handled many complaints, and wrote different letters and reports for the vice president, and performed the everyday tasks for the president.

After some time of her appointment as the associate vice president, things went wrong in the campus and the administration. Jennifer faced different problems in administration. Because of the different problems, the president decided to hire people from outside, but the committee decided that Jennifer should appoint as the permanent vice president. The president agreed to hire Jennifer as the vice president, based on some conditions that in order to solve the problems, she would work with the president, she would delegate her work to others, she would understand her role as the number two positions, and she would provide directions to the deans who report her. Even after her appointment as the permanent vice president, she could not manage things properly. She faced problems in making decisions, and things started getting worse.

Therefore, the school has hired a new and experienced vice president, who has settled all the issues and gained respect within a time. As a result, of his popularity Jennifer became jealous and conflict started between Jennifer and the new vice president.
