Managerial leadership is a form of leadership in an organization that links the concepts of management and leadership together. Management is a process in which a manager administers and coordinates the resources of the organization in such a way that it leads towards the success of the organization. The organizations can achieve its goals through an effective management and leadership processes. The manager has to be a leader in order to make organization accomplish its goals in the competitive environment. The leadership functions including the planning, controlling and organizing are included in the managerial processes of the manager. The leadership perspective of the management is that it influences the team members to achieve certain goals and objectives including organization and societal success. The leadership skills in a manager lead towards the attainment of several personal and organizational goals. It allows a manager to develop personal development skills among the team members of the organization.

The managerial leadership abilities enable a manager or leader to deal with certain complex issues within and outside the organization including the management of human behaviours, occupational stress, emotions and burnouts. The managerial leaders are aware of the different requirements within the organization such as the mentoring of their team, motivating the employees towards work, coaching and training people, developing communicating skills etc. Managerial leaders share their experiences with their team members and provide effective and influential presentations. The managerial leaders must have a strong potential of transformational leadership and posses a high emotional intelligence. The concept of transformational leadership is that in which the leader influence its follower in such a way that they become self motivated to perform certain actions that lead towards the attainment of objectives and goals. In this way the leaders transform the behaviours and actions of their team and attain success. If the element of transformational or positive charismatic leadership is blended with the managerial skills then the outcomes are far better than the sole leadership ability.

The concept of managerial leadership enables the individuals to gather their set of skills and attributes and apply it to their management and leadership practices. An individual with only leadership skills can lead the team but he or she may not be able to manage the different resources of the organization along with the leadership role. In the same way, an effective manager without having the leadership skills cannot motivate and influence his or her team to achieve the organizational goals. It can be said that the concept of managerial leadership is the one in which an individual has to be multidimensional. The managerial leader has to face leadership challenges that are associated with the management functions.
