Background of the Study

Management and leadership have been one of the most famous and well-researched areas in the organisational field. These concepts are imperative for running any kind of organisation, be it a small scale business or a whole trade industry working on a very large scale. People working in an organisation are the asset for the management. From the very scratch of the process of recruiting talent for organisational purposes to the very end of the process which is organisational productivity, the human resource of the organisation needs to be managed and lead.

Hence, management and leadership are integral facets of the controlling the human resource and therefore, these constructs form the basics of the study of organisational field. Management and leadership are two different terms utilised to project similar meaning in the context of controlling the human resource. Management requires keeping an eye on the performance of the employees and the productivity of the organisation (Burgoyne, Hirsh & Williams, 2004, p.n.d). However, there has been an intense and extensive debate going on about the differences or contrasting features between management and leadership in organisations.
